The Winter

"O, wind, if winter comes, can spring be far behind?" ~ Percy Bysshe Shelly

The cold has come
The world does it become
Mountains stand high
Craning if winter is nigh,
Valleys so in low
Yearning for to glow.
Winter is here
And everywhere,
Because my toes are icy cold
And my fingers unable to fold.
Oh! People around
Get hold with your ground,
To relish its beauty
Of mighty snowy purity,
For all they say
'Nothing gold can stay,'
And winter for an hour
Like spring for a flower.
