BHUTAN celebrates her 107th National Day

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty." ~ John F. Kennedy

December 17 has been one of our biggest days and it is the mother of all other all-important days. It is the day in which Bhutan was willingly unified under one King in the year 1907, thus becoming a monarchy for the first time. Since then the nation and her people have been invariably experiencing peaceable peace and lovable love.

Today, as always as we celebrate this overarching day with full dedication and filled delectation, we, the patriotic people pay our heartfelt gratefulness and soul-felt thankfulness to our dear beloved Dragon Kings and gracious Queens for your eternal unflagging hard work and unwavering effort, those yield holistic happiness in every individual's heart. We shall always cooperate with you with much patience and diligence to the well-being of the nation.

Here is our former minister, Lyonpo Thakur Singh Powdyel's wishes on this national day which is worth sharing;

Our National Day...

This is the story of a nation. It traces the pulse of many moments. It follows the impulse of multiple epochs. The National Day is the culmination of myriad events. It is  the crystallization of a people's dreams. This is our National Day, the 17th of December, celebrated every year.

We seek to internalize our nation's sweetest dreams of herself as we aim to measure up to the task. We pledge to do our bit as we build our nation - every man, woman and child, generation upon generation. This is a sacred trust - keeping the faith and weaving the mosaic that our nation, treasured in time for times beyond time.

As Druk Yul comes together to celebrate the 107th anniversary of our Fyal Yong Duetchhen, our hearts tend towards the peak of learning, the home of sweet memories, dear Sherubtse. May the Triple Gem shower their choicest blessings on the sacred person of our Tsawa Sum today and always!
